why my 100 watt amp isnt really a 1000watt amp?

Well like the title says im curiouse as to why my amp says its a 1000 watt 4 channel amp but i can only get 150 watt going into my 2 subs? it jsut doesnt make sense to me and id really like to learn why some of this is THANKS.

sometimes they use the peak rating, which is a number that they generally created.

how do youo know its pushing 150 watts anyway?

could be gain setting issues as well.

What amp are we talking about specifically?

My initial guess, however, is that you are referring to the "PEAK OUTPUT POWER" or "MAX WATTAGE" or whatever else is garishly printed across the topside of the amp's chassis.

Peak power is a completely immaterial number used for nothing more than marketing purposes. The RMS output figures, if they are even provided, is the spec that is indicative of the actual, usable output you'll get out of the amp.

Well the amp in question is the AMAZING LA1039 by LEGACY.............hahaha now i know its a low quality brand but it was free and it works so why not eh?

And haha its confusing to me for the simple fact that im used to setting up home audio system so when i read that its a 4 channel 1000watt amp i figured "Hey that must mean 250 watts a channel" hahaha now i see i am wrong and the way i know its pushin 150 now is that one other person said the way i have it set up it should be putting out that amount of watts perchannel so that made me want to ask why......so Hope you guys can help me out THANKS!

Hahahaha rock on gotta love that well i guess im in the hunt for a new amp that is actually what it says it is and can REALLY power my subs they sound good now but i cant wait to hear it when they are fully powerd Thanks PPL
