Why is This Powered Subwoofer Not Working?

I bought a used Bazooka EL8A-HP 8" 100 watt Subwoofer on EBay and can't figure out why it is not working. Here's the deal:

I have the red power wire hooked directly up to the Pos side of the battery in the trunk, and the black ground wire bolted to a good ground. The orange wire is hooked up to the head unit. RCA jack speaker wires are hooked up as well.

This wire setup worked with my other powered Bazooka sub.

Symptoms:

1) Light is not on on the sub.

2) When I take the ground wire off and touch it to ground, it sparks.

3) When I put the inline fuse in the its slot (I just spliced a fuse into the power wire), it makes a small "zap" sound). I have also removed the fuse wire and now have the power direct to the Pos battery side and still no light on sub.

Shouldn't the light come on even with just the power and ground wires hooked up?

Tnaks,

BB

Isn't the orange the remote wire? I connected it to the head unit, as I did with my other one. I believe that tells the sub when to power off - typically after about 30 secs. - right?

What is a DMM?

Also, is there a fuse inside? Maybe that is blown. My old powered sub had a fuse on the outside back panel, but the other one has no visible fuse...

What is the orange wire supposed to connect to? As I said, on my other powered Bazooka, it worked fine. The sub stayed on for 30 secs. after I turned off the car, then turned off, so I am assuming it works fine. I even disconnected the orange wire - no diff.

So I took a closer look at the back panel of the powered sub and it has:

1) Clip on connection with all the wires

2) Switch (looks like ON/OFF

3) LED green light (currently will not go on)

4) MYSTERY: small round plug hole with a plastic, screw-on fitting.

Anyone know what this is? Maybe it is the reason the sub is not working...
