Why is everything I own DYING!

Ok, so not EVERYTHING but 2 sets of speakers, 2 sets of subs, and 1 head unit. But, god just hates me because 1 sub was broken when it was brand spanken new, the headunit skipped constantly right out of the box and one of my amps came with the gain control upside down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif.

But I am just focusing on the headunit and speakers. I never ever go past 3/4 volume, in other words I am not the kid that cranks his system up so that everyone in the neighbor hood can hear it. I treat my equipment very nice. When I bought the new HU it skipped everyso often (kenwood excelon) and I was cool with it. I had two sets of speakers hooked up to it: 1 set was some 4x6 rockford fosgates (30wrms) and the second set was some 6x9 lightning audios (they are from walmart just for rear fill until I saved up the money for some components and speaker amp). First one of the lightning audio started making a scratchy noise then both were doing it. I couldn't stand it so I took them off. Upon inspecting them I found that whenever the middle is pushed on they make the scratching noise. Now, the same thing is happening to one of my rockfords. I pulled it out and when I push on the cone it pops inwards and then stops. If I push on the other speaker there is a constant force all the way back towards the magnet. Oh, and now the headunit won't even read cd's for more than 15 seconds.

Do you guys think that the headunit caused the speakers to die??? I ran them off my old pioneer headunit and all worked great. What do you guys think is wrong???

Thank you for any info cuz I am stumped.

Hahahaha, ok, I ordered an eclipse 3000 cuz the kenwood is crap. In other words the kenwood is gone but i want to know if that is why my speakers are f'ed up.

Yes, the 10cu feet enclosure is massive. It is to the max specs for the subs (it is very well braced inside so no worries on that one). It hits the low frequencies SOOOO WELL I mean, oofta, you guys have ta here it to believe.

And no, bass boost is for the stupid, hahaha. I run it on -1 cuz IMO it makes music sound horrid when it is turned up. Also, it is impossible to set the gains with a multimeter when the bass boost is cranked cuz the number jump all over.

AND! I don't get the dog post???? Hahaha,

The excelon HU was a kdc x790. When I switched from the excelon to eclipse I also stopped running the lightning audios and the rockfords and am now only using the blaupunkt amp running the kickers and the ultimate amp running the kicker subs. Everything seems good now but I want to know what the problem was before hand?????

Did you buy that X790 brand new and if so, where from?

The reason I'm so inquisitive about the HU is that I have been running eXcelon decks for several years now (currently running an XXV-01D) and have never experienced bad skipping issues such as those you've reported. Matter of fact...several times out driving that I expected these units to skip due to really awful road surfaces (way to go Louisiana Dept Of Public Works!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif) they still didn't...

Hmm...

I've heard good things and bad things about WoofersEtc.com.

And I am personally leery about buying non-authorized gear of that sort online but that's just me. It still doesn't explain why you were having a continual skipping issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The CD3000 doesn't do it to you?

I-20 from Monroe to Shreveport == FTMFL. And the stretch from Vicksburg to Monroe is almost as bad!

Gordon.
