why/how did this happen??

Hello, i have been using a set of ID CTX65c's running off a kicker zx550.2 for about... 4 months or so now. Well today, both the tweets blew out. one right after the other in about 5 seconds. I have the amps gain set between quarter and half way up. Used a dmm to set it. I had my HPF set around 120hz. Hu volume was on 33/50 when the tweets stopped working. I have rechecked the amps ground, the speaker/crossover connections, everything. I just cant figure out why this happened. and its wierd how they both blow at the same time like that. Any one have any input on what may have caused this?

So is it correct that i cant just buy a random set of tweets and hook them up the image dynamics crossover i already have? I would have have to either get a whole new set of components, or run active crossovers right? This *****.

Well come to find out, the mid on the driver door is sounding bad/blown too. Making a buzzing noise. Im done putting money into car audio so im just gona buy a inexpensive set of coaxials and either run em off the kicker amp with the gain all the way down or run em off HU power and sell the amp.

Let me rephrase that, im done putting money into car audio until i have money to do so. Which will be a very very long time so ima buy some cheap-o speakers to have something to listen to until then

lol well you should of read more and learned. you most likely blew them due too them being either crossed to high/low, gains, ect...

I had the same thing happen, found out it was my amp. before you trash your speakers hook them up to something else could be a channel on your HU, try swapping xovers also.
