Why hasnt anyone thought of this with all the gas bullshit

Since gas prices are so high right now, and everything, why cant we put a little hold on all those motor sports that use a lot of gas for each car just to run a lot of laps around a large circle?

I dont have anything agaisnt NASCAR or anything like that, im just saying if we put a small hold on all those type of "sports" for a month, or however long it takes to sort things out with the gas issues, wouldnt it lower the prices a good bit for all of us who need gas to actaully get places?

I understand these people need money, and this is their job to drive a car around a circle for what seems like an endless period of time, but ****...

I'm sure the 0.0000000001% of the world's daily fuel use that NASCAR uses will make a huge difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I think its just a BIT more then that.. im watching these guys go around this track time and time again right now on tv, and ive seen them pump several gallons of gas into each of them after just a few laps... and they have to do what.. 300? Theres what.. 50 cars? This is just nascar... think about every other motor sport.. and how many different people there are in the race... Think about how fast they have to be going constantly, for hours on end, tell me that doesnt **** up the gas, its not like they are putting around town with half electric cars

Youre right. But, Jmac isnt thinking right... Its not just Nascar.. Theres the ARCA seriers, Truck Series, Busch Series, F1 Series, I-Roc Series.. On top of nascar. And thats not all of them either. When Theyre running around 9500 RMP consistantley, thats alot of gas. Then youve got to think about the vehicles used to haul the stuff. Some big trucks..

jmac is correct mathematically, but ethically, i think the thread starter has the right idea. its kinda like going into the bank instead of waiting in line with ur car running. sure the lil amount of pollution avoided by urself is very nil, but if everyone did it, i'd mean a whole lot.

i do. stupidest shit ever.

500 mile track6 mpg

500/6 = 83.333 gallons

43 cars * 83.333 gallons = 3583.333 gallons

Average daily fuel consumption in the US in 2004 = 20.5 million barrels

1 barrel = 42 gallons

20,500,000*42 = 861,000,000 gallons

3583.333/861000000 = 0.000004161826945 (0.0004161826945%)

0.0004% of the DAILY consumption in the US (let alone the world) ...

Congrats on being wrong ...
WTF man?

What are you, a living robot?!?!

Yes, your missing the point, i dont mean just that one race, looks like your calculateing for just that one event, take that number you came up with and times it by what.. 40? Mabey more mabey less.. but hey.

I didnt think starting this thread will actually get the ball rolling and the president will come on shortly and declare motorsports banned for a few months, just was thinking....
