//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif OK. Today I was driving and I noticed my car SHUTOFF while I was driving for a split second! I thought it might be b/c of my battery, since it's never been replaced, so the guy at AutoZone did a test and my battery was good. Why does my car shutoff and why do my lights dim with bass hits? What is the CHEAPEST way I can fix this?

New battery, alternator, etc.

Thanks for y'all's help

is your car shutting off only when you are playing the stereo? or does it do it all the time?

It sounds like you could have different problems. A short in your elec system. You are disrupting power to your electronic ignition and that is why it is cutting off.

Do not always believe the auto guys. I had my roomates battery tested 2 weeks ago, it was good, took the same battery in less than 3 days later and NOW it is bad. Sure after you told me it was good to sell me the overpriced alternator. FU__ERS

gauranteed its the battery had the same thing last week, its why your battery fried that you need to look into. Maybe you drew too much with your stereo,(to often) or starter that was my problem.(it was drwing 300A) even if your alt blows a diode, it will work but spike and fry a battery over time, get it all checked out somewhere else. I bet they checked to see if the battery was at 12v (bad cell check only) Oh ya, thats of course if everything shut down

I dont want to raid this post but it relates to it, Now My alternator runs to to the starter, then off the starter it runs to the battery, would it be better to run the line from the battery directly to the alternator so it doesn route through thte starter, or will this be a miniscule differecne? both?

its like this

alternator>>3ft 4gauge>>starter>>>5ft 4gauge>>battery

would it be better to do this

alternator>>starter

and split

alternator>>battery

or even both

alternator>>starter>>battery

and

alternator (seperate cable)>>battery

Its all stinger 4 gauge, 70 amp alternator

probablly small, but it will shorten up the length of wire big time in some vehicles, between the alternator and starter, which is like upgrading to a bigger gauge wire. I would go alternator to battery, then battery to starter 2 seperate wires, fuse accordingly

Well initally it had like 8 gauge running to the starter and then 4 gauge running fromt he starter to the battery, which doesnt help, and it was crap *** wire, like 30 strand stuff, the stinger wire is 1666 or something, mucha better, and i got hooked up on it , ended up payin like 20 bux for 32 feet, ripped the idiots off at the audio store. hehe, I have the wire routed, im just wondering if i should run another line, i didnt think taking 3 feet out of the line to the battery would help alot

my car only shuts off when I play my music and i dont even have it loud. It just started doing this when I got my system installed. I think I'll do the big 3 first then I might do a battery, but I don't have that much mula.

Where In the ATL or Louisiana area can I get this done? I want to pay someone to do it.

oh okay, so there are shops that do this. Good. I'll just wait till I get back to La, cuz car audio shops are like gas stations, they're everywhere!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wowflash.gif.89a61f4caede63a11dac36e97d61323e.gif
