Why does my voice coil keep breaking

I have a kicker 15 L7 1000wrms hooked up to a Hifonics Brutus 1200wrms. But for some reason every few weeks I have to repair my Sub. I am starting to believe that Its because of the bass boost but im not sure. Does anyone know what the problem might be.

A poorly designed enclosure paired with misuse of bass boost will damage a woofer very quickly.

What is the nature of the damage?, A burnt voice coil or torn suspension?.

wait..not to be rude but what exactly is the problem? what is actually breaking? it isn't the voice coil itself, as it doesn't "break". pix or more detail?

i have a funny feelin its the tinsel lead. happned with my Perfect. once i repaired the lead, it popped off again.

i ended up just cuttin that lead off

don't know exactly what its called, but their is one on each negative a positve terminal. 4 in all. One always breaks from one of the terminals.

It sounds like your pushing the sub to its mechanical limits in order to get the desired low end response. I would recommend that you switch from your current small sealed enclosure to a larger ported one, this will make it much easier for the sub to give you the desired low end response with out the need to push it to its mechanical limits.
