why does my new sub sound like this????

hey guys i have a question i just installed all of my new equipment today. and iam having a problem with one of the subwoofers. it sounds like crap when i turn it up or even at a low volume it seems to be making like a buzzing sound . it sounds as if it were a piece of tin foil or reynolds rap? there both brand new kicker L7's dual 2 ohm voice coils. the other sub sounds mint but this sub sounds like crap . there both brand new im not sure why it would sound like this? i mean it moves in and out alot when the volume is up but it sounds like total crap? is is a blown speaker ? a defect? bad voice coil? any help would so highly be appreciated on this . thanks alot guys -Rich

i hope you can return these..... that tin foil sound may actually be the voice coil which is never good to hear

ur vc is scratching the cone, if its new, than i think it is a defect or when they shipped, the vc got loose cuz dindt took care of it ...

return it back and get a NEW one ..

Yeah. What they said. One easy way to be certain is to push the cone down (ever so genlty) and see if you hear a scratching noise.

my comp VR does that, i think its basically blown, good thing its in the trunk... i can hear the scratching

LOL, I returned 6 or 7 10 " Type E's before they figured out what was going on, works like a charm

it has worked for me, i only did home audio though, more of a mark up

I recently bought a 1200watt kicker cvxcomp10 with dual voice coils. and an alpine mrp m-1000 amp and after i hooked it up it sounded blown. when i turn the gain up it sounds like the coils are shot. i used one of the posts here to wire it up

except i wired it to the rear speakers. its still hitting all the lows but the punch sounds like crap. what am i doing wrong? my cousin says it might b bc its brand new and u gotta work it in but that seems too odd to me
