Why does my bass randomly cut out?

Hi guys new to the forum, but been lurking around for quite some time. I just finished another setup (nothing too fancy im a broke *** college student), and been havin a few issues. First, my setup

- Pioneer DEHP7700

- Polk Audio 5x7s

- Pioneer TSA 6 1/2s

- Pioneer 4ch 60x4 rms

- Premier GM7150 Monoblock 360x1 2ohm

- 2 Infinity 1240w 12s 4 ohm wired down to 2ohm

- Power Acoustic 5 Farad Cap

Anyways, not anything to write home about, but still sounds nice. The problem i've been having is that on some songs (it does this randomly), my bass will cut out for a sec or 2 and come back on as soon as i turn it down. And it also seems to happen on less bass heavy tracks as well which is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif . I have no idea wtf it could be, i touch my bass amp and its warm but never hot (like i dont think its cutting out because it overheats, and it doesnt go into protect). Im thinking it could be lack of power getting to the amp, but wtf do i know. Any input is appreciated

jacka's suggestion is a good one but here's my thoughts:

I assume from the tone of your original post that this is a phenomenon that only manifests itself at high volume levels (since the problem goes away when the volume gets lowered?)

As your bass amp only makes 360w RMS @ 2 Ohms it's only sending 180w give or take to each sub. While the Reference-series Infinities don't require monster power to get 'em moving

When the volume is lowered thereby lowering the power demands it returns to normal operation. (bear in mind this is just a guess)

If you've been lurking for a while.. you know what we're going to tell you.

A) Get rid of the capacitor and complete the Big 3 wiring upgrade.

B) Check your speaker wiring to make sure nothing is shorting and causing a lower load than 2 ohms.

C) Ensure that the size power wire you are using is sufficient for everything.

- The minimum I would use is 4awg with a 150a fuse under the hood, then use a FUSED distro to split to two 8awgs with two 80a fuses.

thanks for the responses, yea i cant afford a new HO alternator, i wish i could. Thats prob the root of all my problems, nissans have the WORST elec systems, the **** alternator is 80 amp:crying:
