why does my amp keep blowing 60 amp fuses?

Do you have an under hood fuse, less than 18" from battery? If so, what rating is that? As long as ur distro block is rated for it, I would increase that fuse to 80. Should solve your issue....

it's just a straight power wire ran from the battery straight to the distribution block and a smaller 4 gauge wire out the other side to the amp. and yes, I seen that video where it ran at 453 watts mono at 2ohms. I believe it was 453. something like that. and i'm running a stock alternator and a single battery. it doesn't clip. just when the bass hits real hard after about 10 to 20 seconds, it pops the fuse.
How do you know you're not clipping? Since you don't have a DMM I know for a fact you don't have an OScope or a DD1. Are you using any type of bass boost? And if it calls for 60 amp fuse at 2 Ohm then it will blow it at 1 ohm.

I base troubleshooting on a per scenario application.

Keep posting general rules of thumb and suggestions to generalize everything is exactly why you are having problems.

You need to go get a DMM to troubleshoot.

hell. I don't know. I was asked to give info. so there it is.
Lol gotcha... Your trying to help and learn to trouble shoot. Thats a good place to be. Clipping is sometimes hard to hear by ear. Bass boost, dirty signal, bad music, low voltage, bad connections can all have an ill effect on clipping. If all your connections are good back the gain down a bit and see if the problem persists. An 80 amp fuse may not be harmful but if the manual is calling for a 60 then there is a reason. It could be stopping the amp from harmimg itself. Gain is not a volume knob and an amp driven into clipping can be the loudest its going to get.... but doesn't mean its the best way to set it up.
