why does my 1606D HiFonic goes in autoprotection?

I have it hooked up to 2 12W3V3-4, they are setup @ 2 ohms.. when i turn the volume up, after half a song, the amp goes into protect mode, and i have to turn the headunit of, then it works again... why is that?

now dose it go into protect after a certain amount of play time... or with the volume???

did you check you're impedence at the amp from the speakers with a DMM??

if it keeps turning of, you have something wrong. if that is how you have your subs wired then thats not it. what size wire are you running to your amp? and do you have any voltage drop issues or light dimming?

yeah, it goes into protection after a certain play time... when the volume is high..

and i have 4 cal wires running from the bat to the back of my seat (single cab truck) and there is a fuse box that splits 4 gauge wires to the speaker amp and the subs amp... and right after the amp goes into protection there is a bit of light dimming...

i have the same problem with the same amp

i never had this problem before but i changed my deck to a flip out Vm9312 and i think this is happening because my new deck does not have as much power

well, i just bought my setup a week ago, and since i installed it keeps doing that, my deck is a premier 780MP... hope someone can help us.. where did you get you amp?

im not sure buddy, they installed under my drivers seat, and i cant tell... i have to take my seat out... how are they supposed to be? cause those subs need 300 rms each.. whats your opinion?

Could be a number of things causing that.... heat, improper gain setting, bad wiring, bad amp. You're going to have undergo a process of elimination to find the root cause.

Make sure you have a good ground to something made of steel, not an alloy.

well. the ground is set in the cab of the truck(silverado), i guess is steel... i didnt know a bad ground can send your amp to autoprotection.. thanks bud
