Why do speakers sound better?

Didn't Richard Clark recommend something insane like 10x RMS power handling in order to have the best headroom situation? My only issue is I can't afford to provide 10x RMS power or the electrical upgrades required to support it

About this clean signal stuff... what causes a signal to be dirty? If I were to clean my RCAs or optical cable with goo-gone or something, would I then have a cleaner signal?

Headroom, by definition, is power that you never use.

99% of it sounding"better" is psychoacoutics. The human brain processes louder as better sounding even if distortion is higher and the output is less accurate.

think of it this way. say you have a 100 watt speaker and a 100 watt amp. at 99 watts, there will be more distortion using that 100 watt amp than if you used a 500 watt amp at 99 watts

less distortion = better sq
