Why do my VC's still smell when i turn it up?

The VC's on my 9510's still smell when i turn them up and its a FRESH RECONE, and i'm not even pushing like 3k, but i'm scared they will go POP when i smell it...suggestions?

toasted coils probably......I am OCD and mine have to be fresh with no roasting. Could be the glue

either excess glue being burnt off because of the fresh recone or it is your voice coil getting overheated. Either way the sub is getting really hot and something is burning or is about to start.

"halfway" on the gain is not always safe

it'll depend on the input sensitivity on the amp
