why buy new?

I am far from am expert in car audio, and just recently started tinkering around again.

I remember as a kid costs of these toys were way out of my league. Now I lookon bay and see some top quality stuff for what Id consider cheap.

So is Ebay a friend to you? I just cant see why I would want to go into a dealer and pay 3 times what you would pay for a very good condition used amp. Not like buying a car. Most electronics stuff works as well 5 -15 years after it was born. I have a Zapco PEQ that still works great and I took it apart the other day to clean and deal with some paint issues and there was a date handwritten inside it from 1979...... and it still works GREAT.

Is it just for peace of mind? Warranty? or just wanting the latest and greatest?

Remember, im far below most of you in here and really just like the sounds for myself. Not competing or anything like that. I just think spending less is a good thing:)

I buy eBay and have for years. It works out well 99% of the time. You can get great deals on new stuff and refurbs so there's plenty of options for bargains without having to go the used route.

If you are buying used, look for a solid feedback from the seller, a good product description including any problems and if you have any questions, shoot them a message. Also read product reviews to see if any problems were noted in the older gear that would lead you to figure on passing. The search engines work well when you enter in a model name/number and then add the word review in terms of bringing up info.

Saving money is good!

buy new for warranty and piece of mind.. also some sellers on ebay arent authorized to be selling what they are so make sure of warranty compliances.. Also if they have a phone number make sure you can actually call and talk to someone... just my 2 pennies.

my thing is this..i am not a fan of bigger better systems...i am a fan of older (old school) stuff...this is why i buy used most of the times...so there is my 2 pennies

I buy most of my gear on Ebay. Most of the what i buy is no longer in production so It works well for me. I dont care for alot of the new mainstream equiptment like JL and kicker, So I go with the the stuff that is time tested. And as for having a warranty most companies want you to jump through hoops and obtain return #'s and pay shipping both ways, it is more of a hassle than it is worth.
