what are the main extra goodies you get when you buy a HU?

why not go stock? whats wrong with stock? if im going for a spl system wouldnt i just have to worry about the bass control?

i dont know much about HU's but why should i buy it? for what kind of controls im looking for?

You could easily just buy an adapter for your stock hu so you can hook up an amp for your sub.

But if you run a sub with alot of power it will drown out your stock speakers.

After market HUs also have many more options that stock HUs dont have just depends on what you want out of a HU.

aftermarket headunits can give you better control over your system. like subwoofer control, eq, time alignment, xover etc. also the sq is better on aftermarket decks, not always but generally. also don't crank the bass if you want spl. that's is a good way to kill a sub. read the gain tutorial and keep the bass down

i live in roseville (13mile), but my job is in st clair (Manzillas Fruit Market)

i own a g6, i dont really want to waste my money on a new HU, so i'll prolly stick to my stock, i jsut want the bass control basiclly, im not much of a sq fan im all in on spl..

hu = sq control mainly right?

anyways, turning up the bass only causes clipping of the amp or radio. if you want spl, first read how to set gains (gain tutorial sticky) then buy an amp and a sub that meets your spl needs, and learn how to make the optimum enclosure for it

interior speakers basically. i assume you are gonna run the stock speakers and aren't going to get a set of components and amp them

If so I dont need one, I dont want to use the stock speakers because I'm leasing the car and I dont want anything to happen to them in any possible way.

If I ever find a good deal on a HU, I'll buy it and use it

If I was leasing a car, I wouldnt even bother putting a setup in it, unless I planned on buying the car at the end of the lease.
