Why aren't more people hitting 160?

tell you what buy me the equipment to get a repected 160db and i'll run it, but seeing how thats what most spl vans average and only 179 on the american bass spl ride got 179db but they had about as much equipment in there to buy a house... take your camera to meter with you...

Just follow my next build. I'm shooting for 168+
Let us know how that pans out for you. Just for laughs, what is your plan (box, tuning, car, electrical, subs)? You going to play music on this too?

Nobody doubts this guys setup and he's running less than 500 watts!
He never even made a 150 and his "500W" was like a 3K amp IIRC.

8/10 troll for making me reply.

And furthermore, OP, it's not so much in what you said, it's in how you react. All you have to give us is hearsay and some excuse about how the proof of your achievements was conveniently destroyed. But don't you for one second assume you know more than everyone here on this forum. You don't know what some of us do for a living.

Here's how I interpret you: you have fat stacks of cash and can pay someone off to do your work for you. If I'm right, then cool for you. Sound just like every guy I've ever met who's been "sponsored" and goes to competitions. Now do everything that took your last car to make the score you claimed and do it yourself. NOW you're more like 90 percent of the users here. GTFO with your amp and this superiority complex of yours.

Nope. It's entirely what he said. 163 dB on that equipment is such an absurd claim. You'd be hard pressed to see a 60 out of that equipment if you threw it in Dante's or Butler's builds and there's no way in hell those subs would survive 160's. About the only way you could make 160's out of those subs is late 90's/Alma Gates style with like 4 dozen of them in an armored car.

Ehh I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I guess it's not even worth that. He made his bed, I guess it's time for him to lie in it

Never once said I did this build myself. **** near impossible in Alaska without a garage which is why I paid to have it done. I also plan to have this new build done by someone else. EVERYTHING in Alaska is more expensive so 15k in the states is realistically like 8-10k. I have no complex. I've heard a few systems louder than mine...and no I don't know what some of you do for a living but does that matter as much? Money is money. I was doing big things at a time in my life which helped me buy stuff. 6 years later I'm doing big things again hence the new build.

I'm well aware. You said yourself you didn't do this work. I mean hell, if I had 8-10K here I could have someone think through everything for me and go earn someone else's trophy. That's my point. Saying there's no garage space in Alaska doesn't hold water with me. I've been to Ketchikan and even they had resources for DIYers.

And yes, what we do for a living does matter. You've got company owners, designers, engineers, competitors, and enthusiasts, as well as a myriad of other skills on this site. Yet none of us admit to knowing it all. Collectively, we happen to know enough to discredit your claims, though. And that's really what matters.
