Why are capaciters no good?

Look man, I understand your new to this and your looking for someone to tell you "Yeah that will work great" but honestly 2 batts is the bare minimum for that system. 1300w may not seem like a lot to some, but that's because most of the people you hear from are running 1300w Sony amps which are nowhere near 1300w. A true 1300w is a ton of power for a stock electrical to produce. Your system is mainly 2 things, your battery bank and alternator. Upgrading one is good but without upgrading both your still going to be lacking. You can throw as many batts in there as you want but without a proper alternator it's not going to be ideal. Your going to strain your stock alt and definitely shorten it's life.
Yeah I get what youre saying, can you point me in the direction of the ho alternaters?

Hmmm, do a search for tutorials as I do not know. Run 1/0 cable from the from bat to the rear. Fuse it in both locations (80-100a). From the 2nd bat run fuse block to amps (40-60a). Ground amps to 2nd bat using same size cable or larger. Make ground to chassis as short as possible and use same size cable. You would also want to look at a dual battery isolator so the alt only chargers the rear battery and does not **** power form it for starting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

When you run RCA's/remote to the amps, also run a 16-18ga ground from the head unit to the back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No. The amount that one of those shitty little 1F caps help is nothing.
^ actually a 1F cap will discharge much faster then a battery... That is why they are used...

I would agree someone is probably better off putting money into an upgraded alt or into a high performance battery... but I don't agree with someone saying a cap will do nothing...

Once upon a time I saw some graphs of electrical voltage with and without a cap from a test the guys at autosound2000 did, and you could clearly see that the cap helped stabilize the voltage...

There's several good companies out there. I don't remember what car you said you had, but knu has alts for domestic cars HERE, or contact Rob at DC Power, they make **** good alts. Last I checked there site wasn't all that great and they definitely didn't have all their alts listed on there, so make sure to email/call them.

lol just found out, stock tucson alt is 110 amp
so 110A, and that would have to make it 100% efficient (which most stock alts aren't, but lets assume it is). I believe the usual estimate for what the car uses, is something like 50-60A So leaves maybe 50A for anything else (your system) that's about 700w at 14V. However this would also assume your amp is 100% efficient...which it's not. Like I said, batteries help, but if your electrical system to truly be sufficient, you'll need a larger alt.

Big sigh, haha but i suppose if that's what it takes. How much do they usually go for? And how much should I look for in amps? The car is a hyundai

ha, what kind of hyundai? I drive an 04 Accent and DC built me a 225A alt, and I believe it ran about $400. HO Alts aren't cheap, there's a lot of places that sell them (including some ebay stores) but you usually get what you pay for.

As far as how big to go, it sort of depends on a few things, how long do you plan on keeping that car, do you ever plan on upgrading your system (you may say no now, but just wait till you get the itch, lol). I usually shoot for around 200A, yeah it's overkill for 1300w, but it will certainly be good when you decide you need more power.

All this is only valid if your running full tilt all the time down the road. If your just going to be turning it to full for a bit the battery can handle the current until the voltage starts to drop. What you need to figure for is

ALT: how much current will you be pulling on an indefinite time frame

Battery: max current pulled on full tilt minus 50amps(from above estimate) will need to be your batteries current handling

CAP: if you still have dimming AFTER a BIG 3 and only on occational and hard bass hits (Cap will be able to recoup with the spare (if any) current in between bass hits and give a little extra current on small peaks. If your dimming more than than a little get a second batt
