Why am i getting popping sounds!!!!!?

plus i'm really giving it 300-350 rms due to the fact that the gain on my amp is just a little over half way.
Relative position of the gain knob has exactly nothing to do with how much power the amp is producing. Fact is that unless you've measured the output, you have no idea what the amp is doing.

BTW, last i checked, RF doesn't take enclosure into acount when assigning power ratings. Kicker used to by telling you that the sub would handle X thermally and Y in their recommended enclosure.

I'm really confused now, what are these for then?

Just looks like recommended/suggested enclosure volumes for ported and sealed enclosures, in cubic feet and liters.

It's not what helotaxi was talking about. When I was new to car audio I turned my bass boost up without readjusting my gain setting a couple of times. When I stopped using bass boost I turned my gain too high a couple of times as well. Each time it caused my sub(s) to make a popping sound.

Turn any bass adjustments off and turn your gain all the way down, then slowly turn your gain up. If the popping noise is absent until you've turned your gain up pretty high, you probably just had your gain improperly set.

It's probably not even necessary to concern yourself with bass boost at the moment. Just focus on your gain. Turn it back some and listen to see if the popping noise abates or ceases altogether.

Ok, thank you , i wll try that.

Those are suggested enclosure volumes for the subs to sound right.

Look on pages 7 and 9 of the manual linked above. Notice how the power handling changes with the enclosure for each sub and that in every case but the 15 the recommended ported enclosures do not allow for the full thermal power handling of the sub.

Yeah, i see that. Thank you..

I guess the question remains, if it's a mechanical failure due to the re-cone or it's just plain and simple bottoming out.
