It was an accident, albet a big one, but I'm normally safe around guns. Been around them my whole life, plus the deployments and carrying daily. Wouldn't have been my kids instead of the wall since I don't point it at what I don't plan to shoot. Thats why it was down and to the wall and not at them.
Thou I will admit I was careless, just gotta not get complacent.

I knew a kid in highschool that accidently shot his best friend in the 7th grade... Just messin around with guns not realizing they were loaded or anything.. That fcked him up man you could tell he was just a little off.

I was taught to always check a gun when it was handed to me since I could hold one... Doesnt matter if it was in a store or I just watched someone clear it, Once it was in your hands you checked it...

Should also know to never put your finger on the trigger unless you are going to shoot it!
Mistakes do happen, lets just hope that you learned from this one.

I had planned on pulling the trigger, just fucked up and forgot I loaded the mag

My uncle did that when cleaning a pistol. Shot my other uncle in the head but wasnt enough to kill him, he laid in the hospital bed for weeks while his brain swelled and eventually bled to death on the inside.

I need to find the pictures but about a month ago I was taking my Taurus .45 apart to clean it and had a round jammed and I pulled the trigger to take it apart and shot my wall. I have never been scared in my life.

Like the OP I was pointing the gun away from me since I was intending to pull the trigger. I immediately ran outside to make sure I didn't hit someone outside. I was lucky the bullet lodged in a stud in the wall or at least I think it did since I couldn't find a exit hole on the exterior of my house. It scared the hell out of the dog and my wife. She was yelling and I didn't answer since I couldn't hear anything but the ringing.

Accidents happen, that's why their called accidents and not intentionals. At least the majority of us were using enough sense not to aim at someone else.
