Have you ever tried sub firing up in your truck? I doubt a 15 would fit but perhaps with other smaller subs? If you have, was it that less loud that firing forward?

There's no way I could fire the 15" up, but the single 10" box has the sub firing up.

I've never tried firing the single 10" forward, so I can't make a comparison at this time.
