JT I never said his opinion was logical. I happen to love alpine decks. I think they are probably one of the best out there if not the best. But everyone i know that has type r's in their car has had nothing but problems with them. I know 3 people with them in their car and they have all had problems. I'm not dissin alpine shit but i just think the quality needs to be stepped up a little.

Well I could careless about brand names, if it performs then that's tight. A lot of people have had good experiences with alpine and so one, so who are you to say that alpine sucks. I'm not biased to anyone brand, I'll try them all if I can, but I'm not going to go out and say that an established brand such as Alpine sucks, I even give Sony the benefit of the doubt, although they have had their fair share of problems. If your expecting the Type R to perform like a $400 sub, then your barking up the wrong tree. But for the price, you can't get much better, like I said before, I think it is in the top five for woofers under $200. I haven't heard every sub under $200, but it's surpassed most of the subs I have heard. It is my opinion. But just because a few people blow their alpine's every week or whatever doesn't mean I'm going to dislike or say they ****. I've seen it happen so many times, you try to make the sub louder than it can go, and you blow it over time. No big deal, my brother took his bazookas back 4 or 5 times over a 6 months period. I had them in my car for 3 months and never had a problem, then he gets the same subs in his truck and blows them within 2 weeks. Do I think bazooka sucks, no, they weren't that bad for the price, do I attribute the blown subs as bazookas fault? No I don't, I would guarantee that most if not all of them were blown due to him pushing them past their limits. You can be biased all you want, but many people have had nothing but good things to say about Alpine, from H/U's to amps, you name it. Your only one person.

yep. and the only thing i hate, or um dislike i think would have been a better choice of words, from alpine is their subs. I think they make good Heads, but i havent heard their component sets. i have heard some of their speakers, i wasn't overly impressed.

i think it's funny when some people, on this thread have over-embellished my statements. because i never said that their subs, amps, or speakers sucked. just their subs. I just plain don't like them.

done by one of the more respected companies around, the kid that has the Type-R 12" slam like a mofo. But they don't sound that great. Too much power, and he just rips the poor things apart. the kid w/ the 10" subs is kindof a moron. They are in a power-wedge design, and they are only gettin like 200 watts per sub. Not a good install @ all if you ask me.

But i have heard the 10" at circuit City, and that was in a decent box, with a MTX 85001 going to it. So, not unlike what most custom installers would do. I wasn't overly impressed @ all. but, if it was ported i'm sure i'd be singin a diff. tune.

I'm sure that some people don't like Diamond, like i don't like Alpine. Diff. stokes for diff. folks.

You contradict yourself so bad, in one post you are saying the Type R 10 sucks, then in this post you are saying it was in a bad install. How can you say it sucks if you haven't even heard it's full potential. Then in one post you say the Type R's don't get very loud, but in this post they slam like a mofo. Sounds to me like the only thing you've really heard is your M5's.

So you think that they are one of the most respected companies around, and they don't know how much power to give Type R's? lol And your other opinions are from a demo that you had in a showroom versus a car? Laughable at best. Look, I'm not here to rip you or point out your contradictions(there are many ), just to say that it's cool if you just don't prefer Alpine, but that doesn't mean their subs **** because "one of the more respected companies" installers can't properly set gains or design and build enclosures. Like I said.....probably install related.

For you information, Alpine, alongside Eclipse & Nakamichi & Rockfors make the best head units in the audio market. Period. nope. I have heard Alpine 10 and 12" in a car, Diamond M5 12" and M3 10", Kicker comp vr. solos, xpl, free air, RF he2, PPI pistons, Memphis don't know the model, but i think it is studio or something, and some really cheap *** brands in cars.

The 10" sounded better in Circuit city than it did in the Jeep Cherokee / Jetta that i have heard them in.

so, i don't care if you respect my opinion, you may love Alpine, just like many of the other people on this forum.. but i just do'nt like them. not reliable in MY eyes. they are loud, yes, and they do have decent SQ, but I, ME, MYSELF. don't like them. so just stop bothering me, and when they come out with a better / upgraded SUB i may change my mind. i don't have any problems with the rest of their stuff.
