here's my 3 cents
One of my friends went through some hard times their senior year in highschool. They where involved in a car crash and had to stay at the hospital for three months and in bed at home for another 3 after that, so they missed well over half the school year. They came back in time to finish the school year but had missed way too much to reacher graduation standards. Prior to this, my friend was on high honors and in the top 10 in the class. I think it is complete BS that the school would not work with someone in this position and would not allow them to comeback another year because they would be 20 by time they got all the credits needed to get their diploma. Something just doens't seem right, they know they Can get their GED or HSED, but it bothers them that they will have never officialy completed High School. I have never heard of it not being allowed for someone over 20 to graduate. Don't know kinda had to vent but also looking for opinions and help with the situation.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I don't get it. Is he 20 or 21? Did he start school late or something? If he missed a year he should still be 19 at graduation. Please explain.

In Kentucky you can be in the public school system until you are 21, but it may not be the same in your state. What were the details on the wreck? Was it your friends fault or someone elses? I could see where the school wouldn't work with him if he was charged with DUI or something like that. (Im not saying thats the case, I'm just making a point.)

In Florida you are not allowed to go to high school after 21...

But how can he miss 6 months and need to make up 2 years of schooling? Or is he not 18?

Also, has he looked into getting his credits online during the summer? I dont know about your state, but in Florida there are numerous programs to get you back on track in less than a school year's time..

Thats because it takes people in Kentucky 3 extra years to graduate;)

just kidding, I'm from Alabama. Hello Pot, I'm Kettle.

started school late was 19 senior year. Wreck was called as netrual no drugs or alcohol was involved with either party, just one of those freak happenings.

dang i would deffently contact a lawyer thats BS,Its a whole different story if he was skipping school and doingbad things, He had a Wreck and was in bad condition and its like they could care less.. i hate the whole school Bs rules

Its a US law from what i know that you have to be graduated by 21 years old. Now, every school by law is suppose to have a plan for this situation. One of the teachers are suppose to go to Hospital for 2 hours with student and bring/help with work. Get lawyer. someone at school wasn't doing their job. I think its called homebound. Same suppose to happen when girls get a bun in the oven.
