Who knows anything about wetsuits

I'm sick of waiting for it to get warm, I want to go to the beach now. I've never bought/worn a wetsuit, so I need some incite as how to go about buying one. What size does it relate to regular clothes, thickness, blah blah. Anyone?

Why not get a drysuit, then you dont have to get wet at all (no Im not kidding people make drysuits)

what water temperature are you looking to get into? its hard to say what size your gunna need. your best bet is to stop at a local dive/surf shop and try one on.

True, if he is in Virginia its probably not that cold of water and youd be fine with a wet suit. Ive been in Lake Superior on the northern tip of wisconsin, the water was about 50* and I was fine with just a swim suit haha

Well the water never gets below 45ish. I checked a couple days ago and its still only low 50s.

You will freeze you *** off in 45 degree water with a wetsuit.

As mentioned earlier, get a dry suit. Far more effective in cold water.

I remember going up in Duluth.. Water is cold as ****! but then you have the sand which is so hot it burns your feet.

Or the beach is rocky and really hurts.

ive been in the water here when its in the low 50s and i was in with just a 3/2mm. couldnt stay in for long, but i was still in. anything below 65 and your gunna want booties, 60 and below and a hood gunna help you out a bit too.

what are you trying to get in the water for? diving or surfing? youd probably have no problem getting in the water there with a 5mm and a good pair of gloves/ booties and a hood.

Well if it means anything I've gotten in when it was 53 before. It was pretty cold, but I got used to it after like 5 minutes. I'm trying to go to the beach for some bodyboarding action. If I need to get one real thick or a dry suit, how much do they run?
