The RE8's will work perfect for you. The RMS rating on them is 175, but many people send them 300rms daily. So you will be perfectly fine with 400rms to the pair...set your gains normally! Good luck, peaceHere are the ratings on my Orion HCCA 225 G4:
2 x 25 @ 4 Ohm
2 x 50 @ 2 Ohm
2 x 100 @ 1 Ohm
2 x 200 @ .5 Ohm
1 x 100 @ 4 Ohm
1 x 200 @ 2 Ohm
1 x 400 @ 1 Ohm
If I wire at 1-ohm, I will get 400W RMS. Do you think this is too much (because you recommend 250W)? Isn't it OK to have an overly-powerful amp, and then just turn the gain down? I thought this is the way that you get cleaner power, instead of maxing out a smaller amp?
By the way, does anyone know where I can find the specs of the RE8s, since their website doesn't tell me much? Very important is the mounting depth, RMS rating, etc.
Also, can someone tell me what "Mounting Depth" actually means? Is "Mounting Depth" the overall height of the speaker, or something else?
Thanks!!
Bryan
