Who else's parents hate that you mess with your audio/car?

My parents always shook their head in disbeleif. Why are you outside at 3:00am in -30 C weather they were asking? Mom was kind enough to bring out hot chocolate for me, there I was with the space heater in the 1987 4runner installing away with my then new gear. This was 20 years ago, for the last 11 years now I have owned my car audio shop. Just before my mom passed away 7 years back, she said good for you, you made it.

Involve your parents if they show an interest in it, help them to understand what is going on. Just a reply of dad, pfff, it's the Big 3 dumba$$ is not good enough, explain to him what it is, how it is done and why it is needed.

My dad is my right hand man on installs. Loves doing it. Every enclosure he gets excited to build and wants to try new and different stuff. Even wants to open a shop once I finish college...

My dad can't believe that I put so much money into my crx and i dont even get cash prizes out of it, but when I bring up his fishing trips, its different. He has 3 boats, an endless supply of rods and reels, filled up the truck and boat for trips across 3 states and comes back with nothing but fish. So I just let him bish. My mom doesnt really care one way or another.

I own my truck, and have always paid for my own equipment.

Also, I don't live with mommy and daddy...

So, it doesn't matter.

My dad loves building the boxes also. Like last time he want to try and find a way to bolt and suspend my box to the frame of my trunk. This way I could still get my spare tire out. I just might let him if he's able to build some sort of release for it so I can take it in and out because my box is still just kind of wedged into the back of my trunk. I just cut come lengths of wood to keep everything from moving around...getting very annoying.

He doesnt quite understand why I like listening to my music so loud though. I guess he's always equated loud systems to rap music, which he doesnt like very much. But no matter what I play for him, he doesnt like it for some reason or another. I even played him Phil Collins screwed and he hated it.

My mom complained a lot at first. She bought me my first system(walmart junk). In about 6 months I said I wanted more, and I bought it, with my money. She got pissed, saying I needed to save for college. Now i'm in college, don't live there, but still do all my installs there. As long as I don't shake the windows, she doesn't care.

My dad is an electric engineer and audiophile and a DIY type of guy..

He loves it..

Only complaints I hear is that I talk too loud and they think its cause of the stereo.. which is false...

when I was 17 and wanted my first "system" my step dad said "no, you're not spending your money on that", my mom was cool cause I cleaned cars at a car lot all summer and don't drink/smoke/party......my dad was cool w/it and even let me put a system in his car and im doing another one here pretty soon for him. Now my step dad is cool w/it and helps on boxes/answers any "tool questions" i have and will eventually put a system in his truck. Now that im 20 and in college/working, they could care less cause they trust my judgement/money skills

My parents think it's a waste of time and money. They have no appreciation or understanding for it at all. They ***** at me to not "put holes in" or "tear up" the car whenever i mention anything about it. Mom says I'm too old for that kind of stuff (I'm 26).

i dont think theres an age bracket for car audio,

but its funny when i get to install two 15" type rs in a fiberglass enclosure, 3 amps, 4 screens, in dash dvd player and other goodies, for a 50 year old man. at least it was a tricked out suburban. lol

My mother absoutley hates it now and always has. She wishes I would grow out of it. I am like mom, its your dam fault for putting god dam woofers on my crib blarring REO SPEEDWAGON! Did put me to sleep though.

Dad could care less really. He just hats the expense of it, but he enjoys it. Hell when I have him work on my car doing car maintence to it, I would hear him bumping it a good block away. That shit is priceless, lol!

my first system my parents wouldnt even let me have a ported box with my single 15 hahahaha

they have kinda figured that its my money and ill do as i please with it. its been like pulling teeth to get the 3 15s i had, then the 6 15s... they said i couldnt but its been all of my own money that ive earned, so they really cant do anything about it.

now they have just kinda given up. sometimes when i tell them what im doing i get a sigh, but they dont even bother stopping me. they werent too happy when i told them i was taking out all the seats in my expedition and walling 4 18s on like 20,000 watts, but they didnt even bother trying to stop me...

My parents never cared what I did to my cars, They actually enjoy it!! The first show i attended back in 97" they are the ones who told me to enter it.

Mine don't say anything. They think its cool w hen big *** boxes show up at the door and stuff.

They sit in it once its finished say wow and never say another word lol
