Who carries the best wire?

reason for copper clad aluminum is price. aluminum is cheaper then copper by far and im pretty sure coating it in copper doesn't do much but ultimately its made simply for the price break, Copper clad doesnt conduct as well as OFC copper

OK but this someone measure its cables when they bought them?

Mine are 3.5LBS, 5 metars 50mm2 power cables..

If someone has pure copper can he measure it? I am asking this to check out how much aluminium is there, becouse i do know that aluminium is not that good..

Also copper isnt so expensive any more, before this economic crises,a tone of copper was 8000 US dollars, and now its only 3000 US dollars.. That is a major price diffrence,so cables now should be a LOT cheaper!

Not true, you need to look at how the Hyperflex is twisted differently. That is what gives the perseption that it is larger. Kicker uses that weird rope twist to the wire, which gives it a larger girth.

Also look at the pictures on the first page comparing hyperflex to Knu Flex. They are twisted the same.

I have both brands in question, I have cut both of them apart and compared them side by side with them unraveled and the wire straightened out. They are almost identical. Explain this to me; they both use the same gauge of wire for the idividual strands. The knu wire has more strands, wouldn't that make it have a larger surface area?

This is entirely wrong. The reason why they tin the copper is to prevent oxidation. All tinned copper wire is OFC by nature. They usually use either a tin alloy or an aluminum alloy due to oxidation resistance. When wire oxidizes, the resistance increases. So tinned wire is better than simple OFC.

I can vouch for kicker wire, great stuff. I have Knu speaker wire and RCAs and that stuff is great. I put 4 gauge Knu Flex in my friends ranger and it worked amazing as well. Go with whatever is cheaper.

Go ahead and reread his response. He never mentions Tinned Copper at all. He does however talk about copper clad aluminum, which is what Knu's KLMX wire is.

lol its all good being an actual installer for the most part running smaller wire is easier. so if copper clad doesn't conduct as well as actual copper and CCA 4 is only slightly better then copper 8 then why **** around? i dont know the actual figures hence not stating them but ive had to run that klmx bullshit in a new civic before and not only was it stiff and hard to work with but there was a big *** hup in the carpet and i kept on thinking something like 2g would have conducted about the same and wouldn't have looked so retarded but of course its bigger so it must be better and thats what the terminals were so cant go smaller. Sadly it was a 5 channel running 2 300w subs so proper 4g could have ran it just fine

lol sorry for the rant

Everything comes down to money. KLMX 1/0 is $1.75 / ft. Fleks is $3.40 / foot. You are saving 50% to get a little bit lower quality wire capable of handling a little bit less current.

If thats all you need, then go for the KLMX.

A fellow competitor (and local Kicker dealer) brought me some Kicker HyperFlex today to compare it to some of my KnuFleks. Here are the pics. The KnuFleks is red and the Kicker is grey.

Thw jacket feels identical to the touch. The outer diameter is identical in size. The wire inside looks the same but look closely at the rest of the pics.

Although both are very similiar, the wires are twisted differently between the two. I'm not sure how visible it is in the pics but it's very noticeable in person that the Kicker wire has more of a gap between the twisted strands.

Flexibility test. Without a doubt the KnuFleks is more flexible and with very little force would fold into a complete 180* bend.

which one feels heavier? meh doesnt matter thou without actually testing its hard to tell and for the most part all of these are good enough so you wont notice much of a diffrence

for curiosity sake we did a 8g performance test on some wire we had at the shop... 8g rf hyperflex (04) 8g purple lighting audio, 8g directed, and 8g q power

im sure you can guess how this went down but the lighting had the least drop with current flowing. mind you it looked smaller and was slightly lighter then the RF but it had a . less drop

directed wasnt bad but def not up to rf corp specs and the q power might as well have been speaker wire
