as said earlier, it's a thermal compound.

IIRC, Dave Navone said it's there to prevent induced noise. An insulator.

That might be an additional benefit to using it.

I'm gonna use Arctic Silver on my Brutus whenever the GF gets around to resoldering it; Awesome heat interface; Super-tiny particles of silver in oil. Way more effective than the tape or paste.

I hope you plan on using AS Ceramique and not regular AS 5. You don't want thermally-conductive silver all over the backside of the PCB on your amp.

That's hot glue.... on the torroids, I beleive were talking about the white greasy shit that some manufacturererereererrerers use on the backs of their mosfets to aid in heat transfer to the heatsinks.
