so i got engine noise. im hunting down the problem.

if i have bad ground on my amp that means that ANYTIME the amp is playing the bad ground will be a factor right?

when i have my hu sending signal to my amp i have engine noise.

but when i hook up my ipod to the amp i dont have engine noise.

some Pioneer head units have a diode on the RCA shield, that fails a lot. try grounding the shield of one RCA.

also, i always upgrade my head unit ground when installing amps. you want to minimize the electrical resistance (and thus potential) between the amp ground and head unit ground.

grounds are the most important connection you make. spend the time to do it right.

forget my original thread post. i get engine noise anyway i give my amp sound signal.

so i guess it could be my amp ground. i will try to reground it tomrrow.

whats the best way to avoid the resistance difference between hu and amp? grounding them together at same spot?

What brand head unit do you have?
