whine on some am channels...

well i had this annoying whine and other wierd noises coming from the speakers on some am channels after i installed my sub and sub amp, [dont have the comps and comp amp in yet] so the first thing i did was unplug the rca's from the sub amp, and the sound went away, so i figured it must be the rca's. got my new knu rca's installed today and the whine is still there, but when i unplug the rca's the whine goes away. grounding the rca's did not help, what would you say the problem is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

are your rca's ran next to your power wire? if so then put them on the opposite side of the car. if that dont work theres always a bandaid hehe and or a groundloop isolator.

Switched-mode power supplies make a lot of RF noise, no way around it...the ground loop isolator (basically a 1:1 ratio transformer) could help, but chances are you're going to have some noise anyway.

I get so much interference from the amps that some channels are unusable (but then again, the capture area of the antennas I have is slightly larger too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

i guess all i can do then is to unplug the rca's when using the radio?

Try grounding the RCA's near the back mounting bolt of the head unit. Kinda of a point of source way to ground the noise...it may just be your head unit, some head units (mainly pioneer, and i know yours is alpine) get unstable / bad grounds in the output channels of the head unit.
