I have a 1999 vw passat that i am running a 12 inch JL W3 powered by a mtx 1500 watt amp. Then for my door speakers i have a Eclipse 500 watt 4 channel amp. It was working good for about 7 months, then i decided to pull everything out to carpet my box. Now i installed everything and when i turn on my stereo and the car is running i hear a squeal that changes pitches as a accelerate. The only change i did was i put a brass connector on the ground. Even if i pull it off it still makes the annoying noise. I have tried grounding it on different locations on the chassis still, makes the noise. I talked to best buy and they said the rca's are too close to the power and ground so i moved them away from each other and it still makes the noise. I tried replacing the rca's with better ones and the noise was still there. We took my car to my dads shop to check the battery and it was putting out 14.5 volts so thats good. Its totally driving me nuts! I was reading online that you disconnect the rca's to see if the sound still occurs and i did. The noise quit but im not sure what thats telling me. Im about ready to sell all my car audio crap and buy all new. Any ideas on how to fix this ANNOYING problem??!!!
