for budget purposes, that hifonics set up seems to be fine for the money.I think that amp kit along w cables and deadining kit is great too.I bought some HF zues seprates and I was very impressed with the sound quality for the price..I see nothing wrong with them, and they sounded just fine for me under a $100 bill:D.Stay away from that Audiobahn amp,as I have used that one before. It is an Entry level amp,and not reliable..The HCT amps or DT amps are the ones you want to buy from Audiobahn, and are ten times better, and are amazing in raw power, and durability,as I have used.Even the new speakers are not clear, as the OLd school ABC series that I use.The Subwoofers are still fairly decent, as I dont care what anyone says, they are pretty **** good for the bang for your buck..!! I put a DVC 4ohm 600rms sub($79)Free shipping,in an empty Bazooka tube 10in., and a pair of those Zues components($69) free shipping in a co-workers single cab Chevy with the Autotek BTS 7050-44watt bridged at 2ohms on the sub, and an old school Alpine Duo-b 3523 on the components with bass blockers($5.95)free shipping, with a 8ga kit, and it shook the whole **** truck and was LOUD as hell for what it was!!Plenty of Head room!! I wouldnt put anything MTX ofr Rockford in any of my vehicles, even JL,Kicker speakers are pretty good..IMO,amps?Good for the bass, but not too clean for the front stage..My opinion of course. Those Alpine Duo-b amps I have for Trade/purchase would be all you need for your mids and highs, and do a FINE job on any speaker you have chosen, and Clean Clear, and Loud:D All opinion and experienced as well:D

go old school thats where the budget quality is at
I'm a beginner when it comes to this stuff, so I don't know what you mean by "old school." Could you maybe give a link to some older stuff that would work with my needs (6.5s, 6x9s, front stage amp)?

It really depends.... There's a lot of new crap out there and there's a lot of new quality equipment on the market. Either way, quality and cheap don't normally go in the same sentence.

Old school sound equipment from the mid 90's to the early 2000's was some of the best equipment made. If you are on a budget, you can get an equivalent to a $300-500 amp (today's prices) for around $125-250 or so.

You will have to do a lot of research about quality old school verses quality new equipment. SoundStream, PPI, Phoenix Gold, and a half dozen other brands come to mind for old school. The JL Audio HD series and Alpine PDX amps are good SQ for new amps.

I have bought alot of new amps, and theres not much of a choice on speakers, and subs, but I have yet to accept a $1000.00 amp compared to and Old school Autotek Mean Machine 66hc/99, or the BTS Series Hifonics VIII,VII,that is Cleaner at sound, higher db rating, less fused amperage, and pure power, for Under $400 bucks, and surpasses my expectations, along with Quality!! Goes to really show that alot of you guys dont really know just what true old school power, and quality built amps are still around that just embarrass the new school amps by far.Why not do a little home work and read up on Steve Mantz, and Zed Audio amps, and see just what I am talking about rather than question/or make slashing remarks about old school.I have a 150 watt amp that bangs 2-1000 rms/2000 peak 10s that A Jl 1000 watt amp cant touch at 2ohms!! How much does that JL cost?? Look at the TDH, and DB ratings on the new stuff, and compare it to old school, and fuse ratings, and so forth??Tell me what amp compares to say a Hifonics Cyclops VIII 100 watt mono amp on the market today specs wise, and , and tell me...which would you consider/or is better built??? The Cyclops VIII and at 12.9 v if that??As far as I can say..all this new CRAP/Priced Goudged JUNK, you guys want to pay for, and run in your cars??Is one of the reasons you are having to spend more money to reach the goal of maintaining the amperage level for those amps to even reach the true rms the amps put out??Think about that I mean Really..two 40 -50 amp fuses for 4x50 watts??I say.. open your wallets, and continue to be mislead to ..Whats INN,and break yourselves, or wait till next yr to get that amp for my subs, and spend more to reach the 14.4v that most amps need these days??OLd school??Yes Sir..you can have the new China/Mass Assym. JUNK!! Im getting my moneys worth..not sure about you guys??Specs speak for themselves, along with 20 yrs of experiencing for myself:boink:

Lots of truth in this ^^ I have to say, having an "underrated" 50 watts is a lot more bang for your buck than a "rated" 70-80 watts. The CEA specs at 14.4V is almost like cheating since it is the peak power that most charging systems will go up to (commonly). The Elcipse amp in the link is rated 85W × 4 Channel 0.1% THD at 4 Stereo @ 13.8V. It would probably do closer to 95W actual power. The old school equipment rated at 12V or 12.5V would be even better at normal operating power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
