which way to face the sub

i'm currently using a pre-fab enclosure with the sub and port firing towards the rear of the trunk. i'm wondering if an enclosure where the sub fires upward and the port out of the side would be better? or the sub firing upward and the port towards the rear of the trunk? 2002 honda civic.

I have tried the firing up and port out and i personally didnt care for it. I have always liked facing the rear. Now, prefabs ****. Get one built for you and you will see a major differance...

typically from what I have seen most of the time is port back and sub up.

or port and sub back...

depends on your car...

build some boxes and experiment?

tuned freq 29.03

another question. if i remove the rear factory speakers and leave those openings as extra ports to the interior. would that be a pro or con?
