which way is best?

hi. i have a ford probe 2nd generation, and its a hatchback. putting 4 subs in it this week. hopefully ill have some pics to show you guys.

however, which should i do:

1. face ALL 4 subs up ?

2. face 2 towards the back of the car and 2 towards the front?

3. face 2 towards the back and 2 straight up?

i think #1 is the best BUT i love how subs play in my car facing th erear, so i was thinking about #3

any thoughts?

This is too subjective of a question to be able to really give you a definitive answer unless someone with a Probe with experience with 4 subs and a variety of boxes can chime in to let us know what proved to work best in their experience.

Add to that the fact that what someone else likes best may not match what works best for you and you end up with a problem whose only solution is for you to try a couple of different ways out and see which sounds best to your ear. I generally have them all on the same plane, but it depends on what you are doing.....

stay away from 2 up and 2 front......thats no good right there imo

Agreed.. you will get phasing issues.. My vote is for all up..

I don't usually mess with probes, but.

when u say you dont mess with probes, does that mean they are a difficult car in regards to building a system in?

also,

i thought 2 up and 2 back had cancelling issues?

i had 4 jl 12W0s in the back of a 95 probe se for a little while... all pointed up.. it was ok.. the loudest subs i ever had in the probe were a pair of jbl gto subs from a few years back pointed toward the rear..what subs are you running? ive been thinking about running 3 12s pointed toward the rear.. from what i have had in the probe pointed back has sounded the best..... also you have any pics of your car?? ive still got a probe but not the 95

And no, they're not a hard vehicle to work around.I just don't like the probes lol.
