Which version of IDQ???

Hey guys,

Sorry still a little new and I haven't mastered ohms, bridging, etc. yet. I'd like to get an IDQ 10" sub to use off the rear two channels of a JL 300/4:

Rated Power (stereo):

75 W RMS x 4 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm

(11V-14.5V)

Rated Power (bridged):

150 W RMS x 2 @ 3 ohm-8 ohm

(11V-14.5V)

THD at Rated Power:

Just wondering if I need the dual 2 ohm(D2) or dual 4 ohm(D4) version of an IDQ10V2?

Thanks for any help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Dual 2 wired in series to present the 300/4 a 4 ohm load as it is not stable at 2 ohms bridged.
Thank you sir! I guess I need the D2 version then which was the opposite of what I was hoping, since someone on here was selling a D4.

Oh well, the search continues I guess...

Thanks again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

buy the D4, wire it in series for an 8 ohm final load
Hmmmm so the D4 could work then?

Ok, one quick question - so would there be any real difference whether I wire a D2 in series to present a 4 ohm load like FoxPro5 suggested, or a D4 in series for an 8 ohm load as you (mattmcss) suggested? Will the power the sub receives be the same? Just as stable, run as cool? Sorry, again still kind of new, and am just not sure as two people have presented two different options. Just wondered what the difference was if any.

What mattmcss said. ^ FoxPro was mistaken, he seems to have forgotten you could wire the 4ohm DVC to 8ohms mono, which your amplifier can use well (3-8ohms window for max power). Most amps, FoxPro would be right, but the JL amps have that window that covers a range of impedances, including 8ohms bridged/mono.

Yes. As I alluded to above, most amplifier's output is directed correlated to the impedance connected to it. But your JL amp has a window of impedances that still allow it to perform at peak output. Any impedance between the 3 and 8 ohms you've listed (mono) should pull the same power from your amp.

Thanks so much for the clarification //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Great to hear that D4 will work then!
