That's my guess too. I was surprised when I saw it, this woofer is highly regarded in the home audio world, I figured it would have been at least a 3hp.

Probably a long gap/short coil underhung TC9 motor. Here is an exerpt from TC's website regarding the TC9 motor.

"The TC9 also has a highly flexible design that can be used in a variety of implementations from both sealed and ported cabinet designs using both under hung or overhung voice coil options"
