which small block?

so im going to swap a small block vb into my 1987 nissan 720. i was thinking either a 350 or even bore it out to a 383. I think i would rather get a used motor and rebuild it than get a crate motor. so what i really need is the motor and ****** but now i have so many options im not sure what to take it out of. i was thinking maybe an ls1 but thats a pretty comon motor. i want an awesome motor/****** that maybe isnt as common as say an ls1. any suggestions?

its out of a caddy EXT whats an lq9? is that the engine code?

get the caddy engine. but here is a better question do u want to go fuel injected(which is complicated) or just run a carb?

fuel injection would be nice i would have a better shot of running a stock hood with fuel injected carb the air filter will hit the hood unless i get a side draft carb

But the overall cost of parts/tune for EFI is so much more than a carb, on average, with simple stuff. But if the engine is already efi, then turbo the *****. EFI+turbo+big cube sb=teh sex0r

a sbc 400 would be cool, but the chevy 400 is teh ghey. its the small block that wanted to be a big block.
