Which single 12 to go with?

My current set-up is a single 10 JLW7 in a 1.6 cube ported tuned to 34hz with a JL 1000/1 pushing it. This is in a 99 Saturn SC1 and im really impressed with how it sounds! But im wanting more!! Im thinking about selling and getting a single 12, I want louder and lower. I'll be keeping the 1000/1 so what should I go with?

There are currently some Skar Audio VVX-12 for sale right now, will I be happy with these? Or should I look at a different brand like Sundown or??? Ive never heard Skar or Sundown in person so I need some help from you guys. Id like to keep the price under $200 if possible...

skar or sundown would both be good for subs that are under $200 i've had both and depending on the box they can both get very loud for what they are. another option you can try going with is the new GCON from SSA or even try the new 2012 model type r's. my friend got those and they're pretty ******* loud

Between the Skar and Sundown which did you like better and why?

well i had them in two different boxes the sundown was at 1.58 after displacement tuned to 33 and the skar is at 1.7 tuned to 30. the skar gets louder on most songs and hits the lows really nicely but the sundown was louder on higher frequency songs and didn't get the lows as nicely. but that's also box dependent plus the sundown had a nice rip in the surround so that was probably losing some air. both take 1000 watts easily so if you want lower with better sound quality go with skar if you want more spl at a little higher frequencies go with sundown. also the sundown can take a beating i'm not sure how the skar can yet

Thanks man, I have been leaning towards the skar and might go with it. I have a box that is 1.6 cube tuned to 34hz with a 10" in it that sounds pretty good, I might just cut that out to a 12 and drop the skar in. Hopefully that will be ok?

if you're going with that box i'd probably go with the sundown tbh. but the skar could sound good in it too there's really only one way to find out nawmeen

Right on, I can always build a new box as well! Wood is cheap! LOL

Do you have plans or a pic of that box you had for the Skar by chance?

yeah i did sub up port front and this is a little off the tunings about right but the cubic feet is a little off. it should end up as 1.85 before displacement tuned to around 30
