Which setup do you think will have the better SQL?

I dropped my car off tonight to have the RE-12 and Kicker 600.1 swapped out to an IDMax 12 and Hifonics Brutus 2006D. This is using the same box which I have known for a while the RE-12 was in a box bigger than they suggest. The box is dead on for the IDMax 12 though! Curious what everyone thinks about if this was a good step in the SQL attempt?

I still have my XXX 15 that I want to try later in a ported box using the same amp when I get 0 gauge wired.

BTW... I think the shop told me today they charge $10/ft. for 0 gauge wire but they didn't have enough on-hand to do my car so I will need to come back. Any suggestions on-line where I can buy a good quality 0 gauge for a better price? That's like $150-$200 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Thanks for the wire information!

So far the current wiring is holding up to the Hifonics plus QAA but I also don't have the beastly XXX-15 in there yet.

The IDMax-12 is in now and even on break-in it has more output. It also seems faster reacting than the RE-12 it replaced but... for some odd reason I think the RE-12 gave more bottom octave. Does that sound possible? Maybe the RE-12 being in a box sized 1.5X bigger than it should have been in made this difference since the IDMax-12 is in the perfect size box for it. I can't wait to tune some on the system since I didn't have time last night and crank it up.

Can't go wrong with either really!

I recently switched over to using (fine stranded) welding cable from my local shop. Ridiculously cheap compared to 'audio' cable, and seems to work just fine. Black is the easiest color to finds locally too. Run down to your local Praxair or whatever weld shop is in your town and ask about the price of wire. You'll most like have to buy a box of 25 feet, sell the rest to a buddy for a profit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Id tell you what I paid for my 2/0, but I dont want to see these guys cry. lol

Having the RE in 1.5x its recommended enclosure size means the alignment was probably way out of whack, and the low-end was grossly exagerrated. The IDMax has MUCH more potential for displacement, it should have zero problems keeping up with an RE's low-end, given the proper circumstances.
