Which radar detector?

I've got a brand new Bel x75 plus remote detector/jammer sitting in my closet if anyone's looking for one.

It's not even hooked up and i haven't gotten a ticket in the 3 months i've owned it!!!!

J/K, i haven't been able to find a competant shop to install it for me, and they don't work even as well as the windshield mounted ones if they're not hooked up PERFECTLY.....

I'm probably just gonna sell it once i get my ebay bill paid one of these days....

There's a couple advantages to the arrows. Anyone who owns a radar detector knows how many junk signals and false alarms there are. They get set off a lot by automatic door sensors and alarm systems in buildings if you don't know that. So the arrows help you determine where the false reading is coming from. If you're driving by a huge car dealership on the freeway and it starts going off the arrow will be in front, then to the side, and then behind you and you know it's not a cop, it's the dealership. I keep my V1 on L (the strongest filtered setting) because where I live tehre's tons of stores and shops and stuff like that to set it off with false readings. Keeps the uneccesary beeping down.

Yup ^^ especially useful when you're out of town.

you get to know the local falses

i would've gotten a v-1, but the remote kit is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and i wanted something i could flushmount, i'm ocd about clutter, and equally so about things on my windshield, i take driving too seriously, cause i SERIOUSLY can't afford to wreck, i'm still paying off my car and system as is, i don't need to be buying a new car on top of that.

How muchy?

I dont know if it has already been said, cuz I dont feel like readin all of the post here lol.....but I was at BestBuy the other night and saw a detector for 300 that was battery powered. It was the best one that they had there. It takes two AA batteries

In every review I've seen, the Beltronics RX65 Pro beats every radar detector in it's class, yet nobody has one except for me and Prowler573. I say get the RX65, it has many customizable modes and is cheap as well. You can get it brand new for ~$230 shipped off ebay, which is what I paid for mine. V1 will run you close to $400, 8500 will be closer to $300.

My dad's got one in his G35x and hasn't gotten ticketed yet. Forget laser capabilities in this price range, the most these detectors will do is tell you if it's present in the area, but you won't know how close/far.

****. I use to keep mines on L but it didn't seem like it was working? I saw like 20 cops on the road but it still never beeped. I am not sure if my radar is defective though. Right now itz on A. I am hoping to see if it works on there.

not ever cop is going to have his radar on. plus you get used to the false readings. as most of the false readings from automatic doors are well......... it gonna be in a pretty busy part of town where you shouldn't be speeding anyway. I pass about 6-10 cops every night going to work. and pass another 5-7 on the way home in the morning. almost none of them run radar ever (city cops). pluss I know where the big speedtrap is on my way home. (ditch/onramp that is covered by heavy brush) and I know when they are there.

im getting the rx55. the 65 is like 100 more and i read that is beacuse of the smart plug, matel transport case, Ku band, and some other thing. for 210 i think the 55 will be just fine.

Not only is it true that not every cop will have his radar on but not every cop even has radar to begin with. I don't know about every locale but here cops have to go to a whole different school that is above and beyond the Police Academy to become certified to use the speed detection equipment that the Traffic Enforcement division of our city cops uses. The same is true for our parish's Sheriff's Dept.

The exception, at least here anyway, are the Louisiana State Troopers. I've nver seen one of those that didn't have a radar gun mounted to the dash next to the video camera. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I had one for a while....about a month actually...and it saved me at least twice in that time....it's a great unit....I would highly recommed it!!

First off the Passport 8500 X50 has the longest range of all the Escorts......the battery operated one is second...........

I've had the Passport 8500 for the past 2 years and the range is ridiculous. My friend has the V1 and we tested both of them together side-by-side in my truck. My Passport had atleast 50 yards on his V1 and now he never talks about his V1 being better than mine cause he paid $100 more for it.

IMO the fancy Valentine with the arrows is pointless.

#1. You learn the false alarms by heart in your area. With the good radars as well you learn signal strength and you'll know whether they are in front or behind you.

#2. When you get a K or KA band, even if you are out of town.....You slow the hell down.
