which one would be louder 2 15" or 1 18"

They will both use the same amp (MD2D which does 1800 watts). I have 2 15" kicker cvr's, reverse mounted in a prefab box at 2000 peak. vs. 1 18" FI BTL which does 2000 rms in a custom box built to specs. I want to upgrade my subs then later upgrade my amp. SO for right now I was just wondering will there be any difference or I just shouldn't do it because my amp can't even do rms on the 18"?

Either way the 18 would probably be louder if set up correctly. It's also going to take more power to push that single 18 than it will the 2 15's. CVR's are weaksauce.

do the 18"BTL; since you intend on upgrading your amp later. the amp you have now willl push the BTL decently and when you upgrade it will really shine. plus I wouldn't think CVRs on 900 watts a piece will last long. in this situation; Fux what they say about cone area.

yep my buddy has only 1 15 hdc3 in back of his xplorer, he putting about 1400 watts in it, and its loud as hell, so im sure that an 18 with 1800 will get on everyones nerve

theres probably cheaper ways to go if you just want to get on peoples nerves

If apples to apples were being compared, the two 15's would have more potential than a single 18. More cone area, by a considerable amount, and more coil to spread out the power and minimize power compression.

But, you are comparing apples to oranges.

From my experience, I'd disagree. Yeah the 15's have more cone, but the BTL has a hell of a lot more motor. We were about to get about a 152.3 @ the headrest in my buddies truck off a single 18" RE MT, and we all know how similar in output the BTL is to the MT. I doubt that the CVR's would be able to produce that much pressure.
