which is true?

does more space for the speakers to breath equal more spl? for example say a wall of the same equipment is in a truck as compared to a hatch back car? meaning the space in front of the wall, which would lead to more spl, more space for the wall of speakers, as in a truck or does less space equal more spl?

so why is that ? more room = more space for preasure?
not necessarily.....it has alot to do with the resonant frequency of each vehicle as well. if you think about it....the less space its in the more pressure you would create because there is less air to compact. the more air you have you typically need more power/excursion to get the same compression. All that aside, it is totally install/vehicle dependant.

Technically from a pressure perspective, you LOSE SPL by gaining area. Basic physics. When you fill a balloon with air how do you pop it, without adding more air.... You make the volume the air has to fill be smaller, squeeze the balloon. Pressure is a proportion of Force/area. Smaller space with more stuff in it=more pressure. However cars just arent' that simple.

so typically what would u guys think would be better for a wall a truck (which the wall will be built in back of the rear seat, (1999 blazer)). or a hatch (1989 Camaro)

you take a mic and do frequency sweeps....starting with say a70htz test tone and keep dropping it down a few htz each sweep down to say 25 htz then you see which one was the loudest. this is just an overview...helps to have someone experienced at it to help.

you take a mic and do frequency sweeps....starting with say a 50htz test tone and keep dropping it down a few htz each sweep down to say 25 htz then you see which one was the loudest. this is just an overview...helps to have someone experienced at it to help.
like play a sweep frequency on our system?

so if i using the truck what should be done differently if i were to use the truck rather than the car? (all same equipment , just looking for maxium spl levels)

basically to generally START a spl project, you will first want access to a mic. now, are you going to be COMPETING? or are you looking at just having loud wang bass. (lol)

because if you arent competitng (seriously) then this whole conversation is generally a waste of time.
