Which freq. are louder to the ear?

I always see post where people say tune high like in the 40's because it's louder to the mic so does that mean that lower freq like low 30's are louder to the human ear? I won't ever be competing so I want my box tuned to the frequencies thats loudest to the ear. Also I'm curious about one more thing. Sometimes people drive by me or pull up next to me at the light and their bass shakes my whole car, is that lower frequencies or higher frequencies doing that? I did a search on car resonant freq and people were saying most cars are about 50-60hz but some post say low freq vibrates more so I could never figure that out. I would appreciate any help because I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

lowwer the freq the bigger the wave the lowwer it is the more rummble it causes the higher it goes the punchier it gets to the points its snappy. in most cases its easier to get a nice warm 40-50 hz hump going (takes less power as well) thats what most people feel.

LOL I wasn't really trying to be felt outside I was just wondering what frequencies where causing other people to shake my car. I want to rumble for me to feel but on the other hand I wouldn't mind be able to outbump some of those people especially my friends sometimes. BTW I'll be using a single 15'' L7, KX1200, and tcab box.

what it was was probably around 45 hz i know mny a rockford fosgate system that are tuned at 40-45 hz (older school woofers) that shake many cars at a stop light but funny thing is they get stomped in db drag which suprises many people because they sound more impressive outside the vehhicle.

So if I tune in high 20's or low 30's instead of 40 I shouldn't be felt outside right? I don't want to roll up on the cops and get my car impounded like one of my friends.

Here in Chicago they can impound your car for sounds but I don't think they'll do it unless you really piss them off. I don't think a single 15'' L7 can be felt outside anyways so I might not have to worry about it....

oH YOU`LL BE FELT OUTSIDE THE CAR,i HAD 2 L5s IN A DUAL PORTED BOX TUNED TO 34HZ AND YOU COULD FEEL IT THROUGH THE GROUND,I had 2 A-600s on each sub and it was loud.

I'll have to make sure I get a remote turn off switch right by my seat so that quickly turn it off if I do see the cops then later on during the summer I'll invest in some sound deadening.
