ok, getting rid of my 12w3 because i need the cargo space in the back of the land cruiser. So, what I have decided to do is fab 2 separate boxes, each for an re8 or id8, havent decided yet. They will placed behind the middle seat on opposite sides of the car between the back of middle seat and the front of the wheel well. So how should i have the subs facing? roof? each other? back of middle seat? or back of the car?.......you tell me, i can design it, just not build 4 boxes to pick whats best.

huh? What kinda car is it, suv/sedan/ect.

I'm guessing an suv, however it is hard to get an idea of the acoustics in your car.

It's not the direction that counts, its about resolving cancellation issues. In a trunk, most are faced back, but some are torwards the interior and the rest of the trunk is sealed off.

..so yeah, draw something out and give us more/better details and you'll get your anwser.

hey, thanks for the replys. Yea, these are going into an suv. I'll snap some photos later on and post where I am talking about.

I didn't want to crank up another thread since this one was already going, but can anyone tell me any cons to building a subwoofer box for the trunk of a car where the woofers fire facing the roof of the trunk and the port is aimed towards the tail lights?? Would there be much, if any, of an audible difference??

I used to have subs firing torwards the back in my trunk, I faced them up and didn't see much of a diff, but torwards the cabin was the worst.

Currently the subs are facing the roof of the trunk and the port is torward the cabin because it won't be obstructed that way. Sounds fine, however I couldn't say that if the port was aimed torwards the back wether it would cancel more or less.

Thanks for tip. Can anyone else add any experiences in building a box the way I am suggesting??

i have my 12" facing in the cab with the seats down would it sound/feel louder facing a different direction or anything because my amp is on top of my box and its getting hot because its right byt he top of the trunk like a inch away and my amp has been getting scolding hot and cliipping...so what do you guys think i kinda like them facing towards the cabin but what would you guys say?

Mike

I have my subs currently facing the back of my head, with the back seat removed. It's about 2/3 as loud as when I had it in the back of the trunk facing the rear. As soon as I figure out how to hinge the back seat I'm switching it back.

I did notice that the upper range really came out. Like, that 70-80hz range. It's pretty annoying to me.
