Which budget sub?

So im helping my lil cousin choose some subs for his car as he's getting it in a month and "our"(since im helping him buy em) budget is tight. He listens to rap/hip hop mainly and his fav song is white girl so he enjoys the lows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

We have got a kicker 600.1 amp and narrowed it down to 2 pairs of subs that we would like to go in a ported box.

JBL GT5-12 2 of them or 2 Memphis 15-PR12S4.

Which would you all say is better or what do you recommend in the less than $200 range for the pair?

Memphis will go lower in a ported box

JBL will be cleaner in a sealed box.

kicker 600.1, is that into 4ohms,2ohms,or 1ohms????

you need to find out what that amp is stable to.

if your cousin lobes bass lower end bass notes then he could look into FI-Audio,RE-SE,Audioque 2.5

he can get 1-12 or 1-15 in a ported box done right & taat should do the job for him right,then later on he can up grade to another 12 or 15 & buy a much more powerful amp.

i hope you guys will be making the box for the sub??????

Its 2ohms and really JBL in sealed rather than ported? I do plan on custom building or buying a custom made one.

Not sure how much those subs go for but a great budget sub is an AudioQue Sdc2.5 http://www.audioque.com

built your own box.

JBL's higher end subs are really nice & work real well in sealed or ported.

most companies lower end subs can work in ported boxes,but the arent built for high excurtion or there coils arent built for high heat.

you need to look at a sub that is built for abuse.

since you have 600x1@2ohms you can use a sub that he can abuse for rap bass more of.

I live about 12mins from you, if you want we can meet up to hear my system.

what so great about living in the bay is that you can go around to different shop to compare speakers & subs to see what you like or dont like.

in el cerrito you have Hi-Tek which is on San Pablo, those guys carry JL,Memphis,focal,Alpine.

Vacaville has a shop that carries Hertz.

Oakland has a shop in China & off of international in has a shop might stil carry those JBL's.

In Concord you have GM eletronics they carry exige,memphis,Im sure if they carry jbl,mtx.

Th e owner of GM has a Hummer with i think 1-12 mtx9500, i think thats the model number & that sub in his hummer hits really really hard.

frisco, san rafeal,santa rosa has more of the higher end shops.

oh Walnut Creek has a a nice shop off of north main & ygnacio road, they carry Morel,Genesis,Macintosh,eclipse,

maybe you can hit some of these shops up before buying anything, just to listen what else is out there.
