i just got a mach5 MAW12 im going to be trying out after hearing alot of good reviews. should i get a single ported enclosure or a single bandpass enclosure. i hear bandpass are better for hatchbacks, which mine isnt. its a 97 monte carlo. ill be running a 2 channel 1200 wattmax amplifier, pyle dryver

well i love good sound quality, but as things are with my current setup and money issues i dont have the money to make it sound nice and clean. i have pioneer components, 5 1/2 in front 6x9's in back and theyre not the best quality. as for the sub i want good clean sound quality, but i want it to thump pretty good to. i guess im going for something inbetween sound quality and sound pressure

don't get a prefab (ported or bandpass)

only make a bandpass if it's well-designed (for the driver and the vehicle).

that box should work well, though.
but will a driver displacement of .08 work if so than that saves me a

lot of room in my ranger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

the driver displacement is 1.066 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
hahaah, the displacement is NOT over 1 cubic foot. maybe if you mean 0.1066ft^3 then you're right.

also, that first link was tuned a bit too low for the 8's. AA recommends 40Hz but people have gotten good results in the 35Hz range.

that link was also a bit on the big side. maybe something like this:

Jeremiah is correct with the number of 1.066 cubes, but this refers to the peak-to-peak displacement capability of the driver. If you are referring to the VOLUME displacement taken up by the the driver in a box, it is much, much smaller.

Best,

Mark
