which amp for alpine sub

hello car audio forums!

i have a 2006 mustang coupe and decided to buy one 4ohm alpine type R 10 inch sub. i am a newbie at car audio and i need help picking out an amp.

Alpine sub--

Power Range: 200 - 500 Watts

RMS Power Handling: 500 Watts

Peak Power Handling: 1500 Watts

i was looking at a few amps by alpine...

ALPINE MRP-M500 CLASS D AMP MONO BLOCK AMPLIFIER

Per channel into 4 ohms: 300W x 1 (1% THD)

or the...

Alpine MRP-M1000 mono amp class d

Per channel into 4 ohms: 600W x 1 (1% THD)

so the big question...is the smaller amp enough to power this sub with the car running and all? does apline make good amps or is there a better amp out there for this sub?
