Im getting the JL XR650CSi 6.5's and the JL VR690 6x9's. I dont know much about amps but i know im gonna need something that puts out about 80-100 rms at 4ohms. I need something clean though. SQ is very important to me. Can anyone recommend me a good clean SQ amp for around the $200 range??

If SQ is your top priority you may want to look into a Sundown SAX-100.2 for your setup. Exceptionally good sounding amp by all accounts from users who have given me feedback. Nick Lemons (Electrodynamic on the forum) at SI runs Sundown on his components (a 100.4 proto)... and Nick Morgan (NDMStang on the forum) has experience with the SAX-100.2 as well. I'm sure both would be glad to give you some feedback.

I'm sure Denim could set you up for very near your $200 budget.

Got any more of those protos lying around? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is the sundown 100.2 alot better than the US800.2? I'd definately be interested in the Sundown for around 200. How woulld either compare to an audison srx2? A plus for the Audison and US is their small size

i like that JBL amp you recommended me but i was reading some of the reviews on it and one dude stated that he had to upgrade my electrical system to make it happen. is this true???? what about hifonics amplifiers??? i saw a few of those that seem to meet my requirements. again, thanks for the input so far guys.

The 800.2 is a very good entry level amplifer, but if you want high end SQ then the Sundown is the better choice. PM me if you are interested in the Sundown. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No.

My guess is that he either posted the review under the wrong amplifier model on the website, or he had a ton of power running to his subs and the addition of an amplifier for his frontstage tipped his electrical demands over the edge.

But the JBL, on it's own, is not a current hog by any stretch.

I installed mine on Thanksgiving, and am more than pleased with it after about a week of use. Here is a very brief mini-review I typed on another forum;

"No audible noise floor that I've noticed yet. No turn on/off thump. Great power. No complaints...other than the mounting feet feel a little flimsy. So far, for under $200 shipped (authorized) and nearly 300w x 2 bridged, I couldn't be happier. I love the top mounted controls and the fact that the gain knobs and wire connections use a phillipshead screwdriver. No more needing 3 different tools just to install and setup the amp. One screwdriver allowed me to install the amplifier, connect all the wires and set the gains. It's the little things in life.......

Only reason I didn't splurge on the PX series was that I couldn't see spending $175 more for an extra ~50w x 2 bridged. The PX series has a little more in terms of crossover flexibility...but with the H701 those aren't features I need...."

Other than the flimsy plastic mounting feet...my only other major gripe is that the GTO 75.4II and GTO 755.6II are the only amplifiers in the GTO series that feature top mounted controls. I wish they would have continued the theme throughout the entire lineup.

what about hifonics amplifiers???
Personally, I would rather have some of the other amplifiers mentioned as compared to the Hifonics offerings in your price range //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
