Which 12" Enclosure for trunk- Sealed, Ported or Bandpass?

A common myth is that ported has lower SQ than sealed. If you build a ported box correctly it will sound just as clear, clean, and punchy as sealed, not to mention the ability to get louder. Typically sealed will be smaller. Actual specs of the box depend on the sub you want to run. @Buck on the forum can get you set up well, he's a pro.

you'll get poor 60-80 hz response from sealed a lot of the times(not always, very woofer dependant) and country music is filled with that. Bandpass can be designed to get loud easily but its hard to make a design for sound quality, its doable but your gonna need a professional's help or else you'll get limited frequency response.

For your purposes, I would recommend a sealed box, and if it's not loud enough for you, possibly a beefier amplifier than you're currently looking at.
you need to do a little more reading and get a little more experience under your belt instead of spreading a bunch a rookie mistruths around.

Like 3278 said, for bass guitar, kick drum, and other instrumental bass, the sealed box will give more than enough output, even under modest power. The real bonus is that the sealed box will take 2-3 times less of the space compared to ported, and it will cost a lot less. A $30-40 prefab 3/4 MDF box would work fine as long as you get the volume right within +/- 25%. For ported, then you need all the tools or pay someone to build it.

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
