where to set my gains for this common set-up?

i have a -Kicker ZX750.1 Mono subwoofer amplifier (750 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)- hooked up to -2 Kicker CVR's (12" Dual 2 Ohms CompVR Series Subwoofer Power Handling: Peak: 800 watts. RMS: 400 watts.) each one- since the rms for each one is 400 do i multiply that by two to get 800watts rms for both speakers? allowing me to turn the gain all the way up on my amp?

ook thanks, why does it say to turn all the loudness and everything else off to test for the right voltage if i'm just going to put it back on? and does anyone know where i can find a 80hz 0db tone?

The goal is to set the gain so that as you turn the volume up, it is clear and doesn't clip until you reach the maximum volume of the head unit. If you set your gain with the loudness on, it generally causes your head unit to send a clipped signal to the amplifier prematurely. "Loudness" is not your friend. I don't think anyone who knows what they are talking about recommend using a "loudness" button.

So, i completely understand how to set the gains for the subwoofer, what about the 4 channel that runs components? Do you use 1 channel verse impedence or the total rms wattage verse impedence?

Thanks,

If you do a google search on "how to set amplifier gains" you will come across some really nice sites with some really good instructions. Grab yourself something cold to drink and leave yourself plenty of reading time.

You're amp is 750 watts rms, not 800. Each sub would split the power, so 375 watts rms to each, wired in series/parallel.

38.72v at the output terminal on your amp for 750 watts @ 2 ohms.

I also really hope you read up on this because your understanding of the gain knob in your OP is way off.
