are a monsoon amp and alpine deck compatible?

i'm going to take my 2001 passat in to have my monsoon stereo system replaced with an alpine deck, they told me they MIGHT be able to "turn the amplifier on" but if they cant its going to cost an extra $150 to bypass the amp. does anyone know in advance if this will work?
